Power Plants

Power Plants is a concept in celebration of ‘green’ solar technology. It is both functional and aesthetic. The approach taken combines the formal and the poetic to suggest the invisible processes of solar energy as the fundamental energy source of all life on the planet and the vast WRAMS system of water collection and purification that solar energy will power at Sydney Olympic Park.

The Power Plants sit gently in the landscape arrayed like a field of sun worshipping plants. Their form is inspired by the delicate balance of the plant world and their scale, though dramatic, is inclusive and inviting of a responsible, respectful relationship of human culture to energy source and production. The poetic simplicity of the Power Plants - Solar Flowers celebrates and elucidates the ecological concerns of ‘green’ technology embraced in the ongoing remediation and development of Sydney Olympic Park.
