Reading the Landscape Sydney Park - In-ground Text Artwork
Reading the Landscape activates the stormwater harvesting infrastructure at Sydney Park through a series of sculptural interventions that aim to connect the community to urban water cycles. The artworks highlight the invisible or hidden processes that take place in the biofiltration and wetlands systems throughout the park.
Embedding Evocative Text
Fields of text intersperse over 130 street names of the Munni and Barwon catchments with symbols for pollutants in the stormwater and words for healing, cleansing and the filtering processes of the biofiltration system. The words and symbols draw attention to the relationships between the pollutants in the stormwater, the cleansing processes of the biofiltration, and the catchments and canal beyond the park.
